What is the completion rate and dropout rate?

Dropout rate is defined as the percentage of participants who start taking a study but do not complete it. Dropout rate is sometimes referred to as attrition rate, and is the opposite of completion rate (dropout rate = 100 – completion rate). On MTurk, completion rate is defined as the number of Workers who submit a HIT divided by the number of Workers who accept the HIT. Note that, for the definition of completion rate used here, Rejected Workers are counted as completes.

CloudResearch Supports Dynamic Completion Code

Users of Qualtrics and Google Forms have long enjoyed the ability to integrate dynamic secret codes for each participant in their CloudResearch study. Dynamic codes ensure that each MTurk worker participating in your study receives a unique code completely eliminating the possibility that workers share secret codes. In addition, with auto-approval enabled, those workers are automatically approved without any need for researchers to manually check the worker supplied secret codes and approve workers.

Now, CloudResearch users who host their studies on SurveyMonkey or Alchemer (formerly SurveyGizmo) can also use dynamic completion codes as follows:

  1. Check off “Dynamic Completion Code For Qualtrics” when you design your CloudResearch study

  2. Redirect participants at the end of your SurveyMonkey or Alchemer (formerly SurveyGizmo) study to https://app.cloudresearch.com/Router/DynamicCode
